Tis’ the season alright. Everton have received an early Christmas gift in the form of The Friedkin Group’s club takeover last week, purchasing outgoing shareholder Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake.

Sean Dyche said that he wasn’t worried about his future after the acquisition, though it’s bound to bring change to an outfit desperate to improve.

In any case, recent reports suggest that change might indeed be afoot.

Everton considering Dyche dismissal

As per pundit Jay Bothroyd, via Football Insider, Everton’s first-team players are discontented with Dyche’s pragmatic style of football and his long-term suitability appears negligible.

That said, TFG won’t jump the gun and axe the experienced manager yet, for Everton have only lost two of their past 12 Premier League fixtures and have claimed points in recent matches against Arsenal and Chelsea.

The problem is that Everton’s 14-goal haul this year has proved emblematic of their struggles, toothless and uninspiring in attack. Indeed, the Toffees have failed to score in a league-high nine matches this year.

When Dyche is no longer in the Everton hot seat, his tenure at the club may well be looked back at with more admiration and respect. He’s kept seven clean sheets in the Premier League since the start of October, more than any other side across Europe’s top five leagues.

But this is a time for ambition. Everton have languished around the pit of England’s top flight for several years now and TFG need a coach whose ideas will take root in a Blues crop capable of more.

Potter is the man for the job. Sky Sports’ Alan Myers acknowledged one month ago that Potter was a strong candidate for the Everton job but that Dyche would retain the club’s backing until the new year presents a clearer picture of things.

Described as a tactical “genius” by journalist Sam Morton, Potter enforces a ball-playing system that is fluid in its in-game shape and structure.

Over at Liverpool, Arne Slot promotes a similar outlook, and given the success that the pesky Reds have found under the Dutchman’s tutelage this term, it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to appoint a manager capable of turning Everton toward slicker and more stylish football too.

Potter also cut his teeth with Swedish fourth-tier side Ostersunds in 2011, leading the outfit to the Europa League in a remarkable journey that proved fundamental to his development as a coach.

Slot, too, has enjoyed the fruits of operating away from Europe’s top five leagues, managing in his homeland for a number of trophy-filled years before moving to the Premier League in the summer.

Given that Potter likes to play without a rigid formational structure and has showcased his talents in England’s major league with Brighton & Hove Albion and, to a less successful degree, Chelsea, over the past few years, there’s every reason for TFG to bite the bullet and replace Dyche with a more modern-tailored style.

It would be imprudent to dismiss the one-time Burnley boss off the bat, but it would be wise to keep a close eye on Potter, lest he fall into a rival’s clutches before Everton are able to welcome him as the spearhead of a promising new era.

Brighton & Hove Albion could renew their interest in an “excellent” centre-back this winter, with Fabian Hürzeler keen to strengthen his defence in a number of areas, according to Sky Sports.

Life at the American Express Stadium could hardly have started much better for Hürzeler, and his side were flying high in the Premier League table after impressive back-to-back victories against Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth.

However, the Seagulls have been brought back down to earth over the past few weeks, now without a win in their last seven matches, and fans will be particularly disappointed by the 3-1 home defeat against rivals Crystal Palace.

Hürzeler’s side are still faring quite well in the Premier League, sitting inside the top half, but the manager is likely to be a little concerned by their defensive record, having kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 matches in all competitions.

As such, Brighton could look at strengthening their defensive options in the January transfer window, and Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has now dropped an update on some of the targets they have in mind.

Most notably, Thomas reports that the Seagulls could make a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Olivier Boscagli, who could be brought in as a long-term heir to Lewis Dunk.

“Brighton are looking to continue some ideas from the summer, mainly at right-back and also a new left-sided centre-back.

“The right-back issue is mainly born out of the fact both Tariq Lamptey and Joel Veltman are out of contract in the summer so can speak to foreign clubs from January 1.

“One player they looked at in the summer at right-back is Andrei Ratiu at Rayo Vallecano but a deal did not materialise. This is the profile of player they are after.

“PSV centre-back Olivier Boscagli was a target in the last window and they may look to revisit that path as they seek a long-term successor to 33-year-old captain Lewis Dunk.”

The Frenchman has impressed across a number of key metrics over the past year, ranking in the 91st percentile for interceptions per 90, and the 99th percentile for assists, when compared to his positional peers, highlighting his ability in both boxes.

Members of the Dutch media have lauded the 27-year-old as “excellent”, particularly in possession, which could make him a perfect fit for this Brighton side, given that such a heavy focus is put on retaining the ball.

However, the defender’s decision-making off the ball is called into question, indicating that he would have to improve in order to replace Dunk on a long-term basis.

The Brighton captain is now 33-years-old and arguably in the latter stages of his career, and it is important that Hürzeler brings in the right man to replace him, given how vital he has been for the Seagulls over the years.

Last night’s game against Liverpool in the League Cup was an enormous one for Tottenham Hotspur, and the players did themselves proud.

Ange Postecoglou’s side might be falling apart in the Premier League, but after yesterday’s superb performance, they are now just 90 minutes away from a final and have a one-goal lead to take to Anfield.

There were brilliant displays across the pitch for the Lilywhites, from the newly signed Antonín Kinsky in goal to the ever-impressive Dejan Kulusevski in midfield and the constantly dangerous Dominic Solanke up top.

However, two starters really stood out for us, and one of them was none other than Lucas Bergvall.

So, one of the two best players for Spurs last night was the 18-year-old prodigy Bergvall, who started in midfield and looked cool, calm and collected from the first minute to the last.

On top of covering what felt like every blade of grass for Postecoglou, the former Djurgården ace was also a creative spark in the middle of the park and, most importantly, made the perfect run into Liverpool’s penalty area to put away the winner in the 85th minute.

Unsurprisingly, the watching press were full of praise for the talented midfielder with football.london’s Alasdair Gold awarding him a 9/10 at full-time, writing that he was ‘busy’ throughout and that he’s ‘adapting so quickly’ to first-team football.

Such a glowing appraisal of the young Swede is more than backed up by his statistics from the game.

For example, in 98 minutes of football, he scored a goal, created two big chances, played three key passes, took two shots on target, took 44 touches, won one foul, made two interceptions and completed three tackles.

In short, it was a simply sensational performance and one that has to keep him in the starting lineup for every important game going forward, which is exactly what can be said about Djed Spence as well.

Yes, the other starter who really caught our eye was Spence.

The talented full-back made just his sixth start of the campaign, and as has been the case in most other appearances he’s made this season, his performance was so good that it simply raises more questions about why he hasn’t started more games.

The “unbelievable” ace, as dubbed by the iconic Ian Wright, was absolutely rock-solid at the back, so much so that we forgot Mohamed Salah was even playing, as well as a useful outlet in attacking moves.

Like his Swedish teammate, the 24-year-old star seriously impressed Gold, who awarded him another 9/10 match rating and wrote that it was an ‘excellent display’ from the former Middlesbrough gem and that ‘he really is challenging now to keep his spot for the longer term.’

That might all sound like hyperbole, but it really isn’t, and his statistics from the game prove as much.

For example, in his 98 minutes on the pitch, the 6 foot titan took 78 touches, made 36 passes, won eight of 12 duels, made one interception, two tackles and six clearances and completed two dribbles.

Ultimately, it might only be half-time in the tie, but Spurs were superb last night, and while there were brilliant performances across the pitch, Bergvall and Spence stood out and simply have to start every important game from here on out.

وقال عبد الحفيظ خلال مداخلته في برنامج “اللعيب” عبر قناة MBC مصر: “أحترم كل اللوائح، وأي قرار ستتخذه لجنة الانضباط سألتزم به، لكن من وجهة نظري، إعادة المباراة أمر صعب جدًا، والأرجح أن اللجنة ستثبت العقوبة بخصم النقاط الثلاث فقط، كما تم الإعلان سابقًا”.

Shakib informed us that he isn’t going. We have confirmed a team with the selectors. A full-strength team will go to Zimbabwe. It is an important series although [the World Cup Super League] points are not involved. But we want to do well there. Many people said it would be a second-string team but no, we want to send a strong Bangladesh side.”Tamim, though, will not be part of the T20I series. He had said earlier this year that he would take a six-month break from the format. ثم تقام مباراة الكلاسيكو بين ريال مدريد وبرشلونة يوم الأحد 11 مايو الجاري، بالجولة الخاسمة والثلاثين.

ثلاثي برشلونة رافينها وجافي وإينيجو مارتينيز، على بُعد بطاقة واحدة من الإيقاف والغياب عن الكلاسيكو.

ويملك كل من رافينها وجافي وإينيجو مارتينيز 4 بطاقات صفراء، وحال مشاركتهم في مباراة اليوم أمام بلد الوليد والحصول على بطاقة صفراء أخرى، سيتأكد غيابهم عن مواجهة ريال مدريد للإيقاف.

ومن المتوقع أن يُجري هانز فليك تغييرات على تشكيل برشلونة أمام بلد الوليد، بعد المباراة المرهقة للاعبيه أمام إنتر ميلان في ذهاب نصف نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا.

وبالنسبة لريال مدريد، أوريلين تشواميني أيضًا على بُعد إنذار واحد فقط من الإيقاف في الكلاسيكو أمام برشلونة، وكذلك الثنائي لوكاس فاسكيز وداني سيبايوس.
