Nottingham Forest moved to top place in the Championship for the first time in five years as they came from behind to defeat a winless Stoke City side on Friday evening.

Lewis Grabban netted his fifth of the current campaign while Joe Lolley, who opened the scoring, and Sammy Ameobi, who picked up his first goal for the club, also got on the scoresheet as the Reds ran out 3-2 winners.

Their time at the league’s summit was short-lived with the majority of the second-tier playing their fixtures on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the victory, there was one negative as captain Michael Dawson picked up an injury just after the half-hour mark which saw him replaced by Chema Rodriguez for his first taste of Championship action.

Manager Sabri Lamouchi revealed after the match that the 35-year-old has a calf problem so he will sit out their midweek fixture against Blackburn Rovers and that he is also likely to miss Saturday’s game with Brentford at the City Ground.

This could come as a major worry if his substitute’s performance is anything to go by.

Chema has only started one game since joining the club from La Liga outfit Levante, and that was a 5-0 whitewash at the hands of Arsenal last week.

The 27-year-old was on the pitch for the best part of an hour and was one of the players at fault for allowing James McClean to glance home Stoke’s second of the game.

He also lost possession three times, won just one of his four aerial duels, made no tackles, and recorded a passing accuracy of only 50%, per SofaScore.

Forest have kept three clean sheets in the Championship this season, and Dawson’s partnership with the young Joe Worrall has been imperative to that as they both have started all nine matches.

Chema’s poor showing must be a particular concern going into next week, even more so considering their other centre-back options have rarely been seen this season.

Alexander Milosevic, Tobias Figueiredo, Michael Hefele, and Yohan Benalouane have been anonymous figures recording just three appearances between them.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former Arsenal striker John Hartson has had his say on Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino facing the threat of losing three key players in 2020.

Spurs trio Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are all out of contract at the end of the season, and none of them have committed their future to the north London outfit as of yet.

The north London outfit are reported to be in talks with Vertonghen over an extension to his deal – although that could prove problematic given they are only willing to offer him a further 12 months – but there has been no real update on his Belgian compatriot Alderweireld.

Meanwhile, Marca reported last month that Eriksen has rejected all contract offers from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to date, as he waits for a proposal from Real Madrid.

Talking to FFC, Hartson believes Pochettino is entering into unchartered territory when it comes to these players who have been so key for the club over the years, and he has made an interesting claim about the Denmark midfielder, who cost £11.5m when he signed in 2013.

He said: “Pochettino now will have some problems that he hasn’t had to deal with before.

“You’ve got Vertonghen and Alderweireld running their contracts down. He’s got Eriksen who wants to leave the football club.”

The 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich only highlighted how things aren’t quite right at Spurs at the moment, and the uncertain futures of players like Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderweireld will hardly be helping.

Hartson is right with his observations, and this situation could be a real test of Pochettino’s managerial abilities on and off the pitch for the foreseeable future.

وأوضحت أن آرسنال وضع لاعب برشلونة فيليب كوتينيو على راداره، كبديل محتمل لـ أوديجارد.

وتحوم التكهنات بقوة حول مستقبل كوتينيو مع برشلونة، حيث ارتبط بخطوة الرحيل أكثر من مرة.

وأفادت أن آرسنال قادر على إقناع برشلونة بالتخلي عن كوتينيو مقابل ثمن بخس، حيث يفكر النادي الكتالوني في بيع اللاعب صاحب الـ28 عامًا مقابل مبلغ أقل من 142 مليون جنيه إسترليني الذي دفعه لـ ليفربول في عام 2018.

ويعود السبب وراء رغبة برشلونة في بيع كوتينيو إلى أنه لا يريد دفع 20 مليون جنيه إسترليني لـ ليفربول، حال وصول اللاعب إلى 100 مباراة مع الفريق الإسباني.

Everton midfielder Fabian Delph withdrew from the England squad earlier this week having picked up an injury in the club’s defeat over Burnley, and it is the last thing manager Marco Silva needs.

The 29-year-old played the entire fixture at the weekend but has returned to Merseyside because of the hamstring injury which bothered him at Turf Moor. Delph earned his way back into the Three Lions squad having been one of the standout players for Everton during a torrid time for the club.

Since moving from Manchester City in the summer, the former Aston Villa man has slotted into the midfield in the absence of Andre Gomes and averaged 2.8 tackles per game and 59.8 passes per match at a success rate of 86.6% (as per WhoScored). He has remained relatively consistent and provided a bit more stability for the Toffees in defence so far, and was deserving of regaining his England spot.

The extent of his injury, however, is yet unknown, but as he managed to play the full 90 minutes over the weekend, it should not be too much of a worry for the long term. However, for even just one match, Marco Silva cannot lose the midfielder, considering injuries already in the position and the poor form of Morgan Schneiderlin.

Before the trip to Burnley, the Frenchman scored a 4/10 rating from The Liverpool Echo in the defeat to Sheffield United, a 5/10 for his efforts against Manchester City and, at Turf Moor, Schneiderlin earned himself another shocking 4/10.

Furthermore, Gomes is only just returning to action after missing four games since injuring his rib against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The former Barcelona man came on in the 84th minute over the weekend, whilst Jean-Philippe Gbamin has still not played since injuring himself in the second game of the season, with no return date set.

If Delph is to have a spell on the sidelines, it will give Silva even less options in midfield, and most likely force in Tom Davies who has seen just 20 minutes of Premier League action so far.

Indeed, a couple of ESPN pundits attempted to dissect what all the problems are at Spurs right now, and they said that the stadium is causing an issue.
