What’s the word?

According to 90min, the Scottish giants have set their sights on Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy as the heir to the captain’s throne.

It’s claimed that the Hoops have concerns over the 35-year-old’s ability to see out the season and would like to recruit a replacement sooner rather than later.

McCarthy is their primary target with Brown’s contract set to expire in a year’s time.

Whilst it is a rather smart decision to try and find a new midfielder to take the legend’s reins, Nick Hammond could be on the wrong path with the 29-year-old Eagles ace.

Celtic are staring down at a historic season as they attempt to retain the Scottish Premiership for a tenth successive season and despite starting every match, Brown’s lack of mobility and pace has been a cause for concern.

But McCarthy shouldn’t be the man to take his position as he’s a pretty average midfielder. This season, the Irishman averaged 2.5 tackles, 0.5 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per game, via WhoScored.

Since 2014 in the Premier League, he’s only provided a total of three assists, so it would be a rather baffling move. McCarthy only joined Selhurst Park last summer for £8.5m and is known to be a boyhood Celtic supporter.

Maybe the club should put more faith in Olivier Ntcham instead and save themselves a substantial eight-figure fee. The Bhoys midfielder is a wanted man in the PL, but at just 24, he would be the better long-term option in the role.

Dubbed a “class act” by Roy Hodgson, McCarthy must be avoided at least until the Frenchman is given a proper chance to impress at Celtic Park.

It could save the club millions in the transfer market, something that would be wise given the report claims the champions would need to sell before they buy.

هناك تصريحات من قادة الفريق ضد كومان، خاصة بعدما خرج الهولندي وصرح أن الفوز ببطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا ما هو إلا معجزة، وسيكون ناجحًا إذا كان ضمن المنافسين على قمة الدوري الإسباني، وهو ما يوضح العلاقة غير الجيدة بين الطرفين وأزادها المدرب بالحديث عن، نيكو جونزاليس.

كان هناك دعمًا كبيرًا من أحد قادة الفريق للاعب الشاب نيكو جونزاليس خلال رحلة العودة من العاصمة “مدريد”، خاصة وأن كومان قد قام باستبدال، نيكو جونزاليس، مبكرًا مع بداية الشوط الثاني.

Visando o duelo contra o Flamengo, na quinta-feira, às 22h, na Vila Belmiro, pela 35ª rodada, o treinador contou com as voltas de Zeca e Gabigol, que estavam na Seleção Olímpica, e fizeram parte da provável equipe que deve entrar em campo.

Durante uma atividade coletiva, a equipe de coletes teve: Vanderlei; Daniel Guedes, Gustavo Henrique (substituído por Werley), David Braz e Zeca; Thiago Maia, Renato e Marquinhos Gabriel; Gabigol, Geuvânio e Nilson.

Depois, o trabalho foi dividido em treinamentos táticos, que teve o elenco distribuído em três grupos. Entre eles, estava o meia Giovane, de 17 anos, que é atleta da categoria sub-17.

Glasgow Rangers continued their fantastic early season form with another win on Saturday against Dundee United at Ibrox.

Despite being hit by a number of injuries – Ryan Jack, Alfredo Morelos and Brandon Barker were all forced off the pitch with different issues, whilst Leon Balogun was unable to even start after encountering a problem in the warm-up – the Gers prevailed 4-0 thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe, Ryan Kent, James Tavernier and Scott Arfield.

Whilst he did not get on the scoresheet, this was a big game for Ianis Hagi. The Romania international recently made the permanent switch to the 54-time Scottish champions for £3m, but he had so far failed to set the world alight with just one goal in his first six matches. This weekend, though, he sparked into life.

The two assists he managed will catch the eye, but he proved to be an important part of everything the Gers did going forward. All in all, he made three key passes, had five shots himself, and completed one of the two dribbles he attempted. Playing in an attacking midfield role, he finally started to show why the Gers wanted to sign him.

So far, he has come under criticism from portions of the club’s fanbase, but this performance will hopefully be the start of getting them back on side. It also helped that he was playing in his favourite position rather than out on the right wing, as has been the case at times already this campaign. All in all, Steven Gerrard could not have asked for much more from his number seven.

ذكرت تقارير صحفية إنجليزية أن فريقي ليفربول وآرسنال الإنجليزيان، يرغبان في التعاقد مع أحد لاعبي فريق نورويتش سيتي في نافذة الانتقالات الشتوية القادمة.

آرسنال بقيادة ميكيل أرتيتا، المدير الفني للجانرز، يبحث عن لاعبين شباب للتعاقد معهم وتدعيم صفوف الفريق، بينما يورجن كلوب مُنذ الصيف الماضي لم يضم أي لاعب وسط جديد، بعد رحيل الهولندي جورجينيو فينالدوم إلى باريس سان جيرمان.

وحسب صحيفة “ليفربول إيكو” البريطانية، نقلًا عن شبكة “caughtoffside”، فإن ليفربول وآرسنال يراقبان وضع الدولي الإنجليزي تود كانتويل لاعب نورويتش سيتي.

ومن المقرر أن ينتهي عقد كانتويل مع نورويتش سيتي في نهاية الموسم الجاري، في صيف عام 2022.

وأشارت الشبكة إلى أن قدرة كانتويل على اللعب في مركزي صانع الألعاب والجناح الأيسر والأيمن تجذب انتباه ليفربول وآرسنال.

Carlo Ancelotti is set for his first major test of the season as a potential injury to star forward Richarlison could derail Everton’s unbeaten start.

Richarlison has been one of Everton’s standout players in the new campaign, with the Brazilian helping himself to four goals and two assists across all competitions – only Dominic Calvert-Lewin (eight goals, no assists) has been involved in more.

But in a cruel twist during the Toffees’ Carabao Cup rout of West Ham United on Wednesday night, Richarlison was forced off nursing what the Liverpool Echo suspect to be an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old appeared to be in real discomfort early in the second-half moments after striking the back of the net to restore Everton’s one-goal advantage, having tracked back to aid his teammates in preventing Ben Johnson from fashioning an instant reply.

Richarlison attempted to carry on deeper into the Round of 16 tie but fell back down in a heap within moments after failing to shrug the limp and was soon brought off for Alex Iwobi, sparking fears on Merseyside of a potential absence for the star forward.

Losing Richarlison for any lengthy period of time would deal Ancelotti his first major test of the campaign ahead of hosting Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, with the Italian potentially without a dangerous spearhead of his boisterous front line.

Everton have only faced one serious test in Tottenham Hotspur to date but went into the Premier League curtain-raiser with relatively low expectations, given the Blues had failed to win any of their trips to a top-six side since 2013.

No one like Richarlison

Ancelotti will be hopeful that Richarlison’s potential injury will be nothing to worry about as the Italian has no like-for-like replacement in line to fill the void the 23-year-old would leave behind.

Richarlison offers his side their most lethal option on the left-hand of the pitch with his drifting runs and relentless effort hard for any player to match, and hard for any defender to contain for a full 90 minutes.

That was certainly the case in Everton’s only real test of the term thus far against Tottenham, when the 19-cap winger recorded by far the most dribbles (11) with a 100% success rate and contributed seven shots, a key ball and five successful tackles, per WhoScored.

He again shone brightly against West Ham with three successful dribbles, three shots and one key ball while finding teammates with 92% of his 26 attempted passes before departing the action after 61-minutes.

Brighton may not be a level above the rest but with Liverpool around the corner on October 17 following the international break, Ancelotti will be hoping for positive news when it comes to Richarlison’s potential availability.

Um primeiro tempo amplamente dominado pelo Internacional, que poderia ter ido para o intervalo já com a vitória garantida. A superioridade gaúcha começou logo aos três minutos. Vitinho recebeu a bola na entrada da área, ajeitou e chutou no canto direito do goleiro Diego Cavalieri: 1 a 0.

Estava fácil demais entrar na defesa carioca. Aos 16 minutos, Lisandro López recebeu belo passe Vitinho e mandou a bola na trave do camisa 12 tricolor.

A situação estava tão ruim para o Fluminense, que o primeiro chute a gol da equipe na partida veio somente aos 24 minutos. De perna direita, o lateral-esquerdo Ayrton arrematou por cima do travessão de Muriel.

Pela melhora, o Flu mereceu o empate e ele veio aos 28 minutos, com Cícero, num pênalti discutível de Vitinho sobre Magno Alves.

Pelos dois tempos distintos, o resultado de 1 a 1 acabou sendo justo.

The summer transfer window may be shut but Glasgow Rangers should already be thinking about taking a gamble on Bongani Zungu.

What’s the word?

According to The Daily Record, Rangers will have to spend £2.7m to sign the 29-cap South Africa international if he makes a good impression at Ibrox. It has since been revealed that this was the fee agreed between by both clubs when the loanee joined Steven Gerrard’s side from Amiens just two hours before the end of deadline day.

Zungu’s contract with his parent club was set to expire at the end of the season, which would have enabled him to sign a pre-contract agreement with the Ibrox outfit in January but the 28-year-old signed a contract extension with Amiens which means the Gers will have to splash the cash if Gerrard is determined to get his man for good.

Worth the risk?

As far as Gerrard is concerned, the Gers may as well take a punt. He recently described Zungu as a “dominant” midfielder who “fits the profile of player that adds further strength and depth to our midfield” while Amiens official John Williams added “his skill level is very high. He is a hard worker and technically good. He can do everything.”

Zungu made 21 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, whilst he registered 1.3 tackles, at least 1 clearance and created 1 big chance per game, as per SofaScore, which implies he puts in a shift all over the pitch.

A look at his heatmaps last term shows that he is comfortable on the ball which is exactly what the Gers have been lacking for so long. They need someone who can provide a bit of flair, a little bit of the X-factor, and Zungu should be able to do precisely that.

Rangers have been crying out for a suitable option in the central midfield area. Even in the event that a transfer doesn’t work out as well as planned, his sell-on value would not be expected to plummet too drastically between now and the start of the summer transfer window. So, the midfield workhorse is surely worth taking a risk on.
