Shane Bond is confident that he has quickly adapted back to the pace of international cricket after nearly two years on the sidelines due to his ICL deal. Bond, 34, arrived home to Christchurch on Thursday after collecting six wickets at 40.33 in New Zealand’s Champions Trophy campaign.Although Bond was at times expensive, most notably when his nine overs against Sri Lanka cost 82 runs, he also proved that he remains a potential matchwinner, as when he grabbed 3 for 21 from ten overs against England. It’s just over a month since Bond’s comeback to the New Zealand team, having previously not played an international match since late 2007.”The jump is massive and even from the time I’ve been out, the game’s jumped up another couple of levels with the advent of Twenty20 and some of the shot-making and stuff,” Bond told the Press. “The pace of the game is huge, but I felt that I slipped back in pretty comfortably.”It was fun and it’s probably as relaxed as I’ve been. It was still a bit up and down, in terms of performance sometimes, but you’ve got to expect that.”Bond picked up 1 for 34 in the final loss to Australia and he said despite the defeat, reaching the decider was a positive sign for New Zealand. The team has been regular semi-finalists in global tournaments and he believes by going one better this time, the squad will take more confidence into their next major tournament.”To make the final of a tournament like that was a real career highlight,” Bond said. “Disappointing not to win but I really enjoyed the occasion and, in terms of all the injuries we had, to make it and turn it into a competitive game was a hell of an effort.”Just to win that semifinal [against Pakistan], the next time we get to a tournament and get some of our other players back fit, that’ll give us the belief that we can make the final. Even though the victory seemed comfortable enough for Aussie, I think we gave them a pretty good run and that will do wonders for our confidence.”

Sobre os próximos jogos da Seleção, Casemiro garantiu que, mesmo já classificados, os jogadores entrarão com foco e respeito total nos adversários.

– Sou dos jogadores que pensam partida a partida. Estamos classificados, mas temos dois jogos ainda. Temos que respeitar a camisa e o país. Sabemos que o jogo na Bolívia é muito difícil. Diversificar rivais com Europa e Ásia, mas meu pensamento agora está na Bolívia – ressaltou o volante, que ainda comentou mais sobre a dificuldade de jogar na altitude boliviana.

– Já tive a oportunidade de jogar na Bolívia e sei o quanto é difícil. Para eles também será difícil, muitos jogam fora do país. Queremos fazer um bom jogo. Estamos evoluindo e será mais um grande desafio para nós – disse.

Partnered alongside the passing and aerial ability of the “outstanding” Ake, the duo certainly have the potential to form a formidable and quite frankly scary partnership. The Dutchman has averaged as seriously impressive 92.4% pass success while winning 2.4 aerial duels per game of his own – more than Zouma.

Thus, West Ham’s hierarchy must sanction a swoop for the defender over the coming months.

Australia’s decision makers are already looking ahead to next year’s Ashes series and will use the Tests against West Indies and Pakistan to groom the side for the attempt at regaining the urn.That means Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus will have the inside running, leaving Lee and Clark to hope for the next berth whenever the side goes with a four-man pace attack. The Indian board has extended by six months its current contract with Sahara India to sponsor the national team after its inability to find any alternative sponsors. N Srinivasan, the BCCI secretary, said the extension was granted on the basis of the present terms and conditions by the marketing committee, headed by the president Shashank Manohar.”A fresh tender will be issued, before the expiry of the extension period, inviting bids for the team sponsorhip,” Srinivasan said.Sahara’s contract was to have ended on December 31 this year, and had already been extended by three months.Reports indicate that one stumbling block in finding a new sponsor was the base price the BCCI deemed fit for the deal. While the previous contract with Sahara was a four-year-deal signed in 2006 for Rs 400 crore, the BCCI is now asking companies to top that and fork out around $35 million (about Rs 162 crore) annually.The board also awarded the title and ground rights for the two Twenty20 internationals against Sri Lanka to WSG at Rs 3.15 crore per match.The BCCI also said that any party that strikes a deal with it for the IPL, will have to submit a bank guarantee for the full value of the deal with immediate effect. This includes Multi Screen Media, for IPL telecast rights, and Entertainment Sports Direct (ESD), which won the IPL theatrical rights.
