Rajasthan survived several momentum shifts, with help from Baroda, and Rashmi Parida and Ashok Menaria ensured no further twists with a calculated partnership that left the visitors in control of the Ranji Trophy final. Rajasthan were 11 for 3, then 61 for 4 and could have slipped to 71 for 5, but Baroda dropped Menaria, the former India Under-19 captain, twice in successive overs, and he, along with Parida, made them pay. Menaria’s assault on Bhargav Bhatt signalled the decisive change when he stepped out and lofted him for three sixes in an over. Rajasthan went from 95 to 113, and Baroda wilted thereafter.The Baroda new-ball pair of Murtuja Vahora and Sankalp Vohra had Rajasthan in deep trouble after having defied them earlier in the morning with a 68-run partnership that had taken their team close to the visitors’ 394. Vohra trapped Aakash Chopra plumb with this first delivery, and Vahora had Vineet Saxena and Hrishikesh Kanitkar caught behind with deliveries that zipped away from outside off stump.Despite having conceded the lead, the force was now with Baroda, and they came hard at Parida and Robin Bist who managed to survive till lunch, but only 20 runs had come in 15 overs. Parida capitalised on some wayward lines in Vahora’s first over after lunch, and picked up three boundaries to fine leg and third man. Bist had also settled in before he got one from Bhatt that bounced extra and took the shoulder of the bat to gully where Aditya Waghmode dived full-length to his right, juggled the ball somehow off his wrist and arm, and took it cleanly in the third attempt.Rajasthan were barely 100 runs ahead, and another wicket at this stage would have allowed Baroda to entertain thoughts of starting their chase today. They got the opportunity seven overs later, as Menaria guided a Bhatt delivery straight to Connor Williams at slip. Williams is usually quite safe in that position, but he made a mess of a straightforward chance, going too far to his left initially, and by the time he arrested his movement, the ball had rolled away off his palm. Menaria was trying his best to offer chances, and in the next over, drove Waghmode forcefully to extra cover where Abhijit Karambelkar clanged it. Karambelkar’s horror first-class debut had only got worse, as he added nine harmless overs to his nought and another dropped catch in the first innings.Menaria did not get much of the strike in the next six overs, and that would have helped him recover from the let-offs. Meanwhile, Parida, who has been the most assured of the batsmen on either side, launched into Waghmode, and brought up his half-century with a six over long-on. Things had just started to slip from Baroda’s grasp. The field settings were still aggressive, but Menaria tore into Bhatt – Baroda’s best bowler this season – and scattered away the close-in men.Baroda fell apart after tea as Pinal Shah ran out of ideas, giving even Ambati Rayudu a couple of overs. He could not afford to attack much, and in the mood Menaria was in, even the men on the boundary were helpless. Menaria had shown in the first innings how clean a striker he is, and now he pinged the gaps with as much ease. He drove elegantly through extra cover, and flicked powerfully through midwicket for boundaries. Parida, the veteran, stepped back and let Menaria take charge. Menaria had joined Parida when he was on 30, and overtook the senior batsman by stumps, putting his side on course for their first Ranji title.

Apesar do impasse, os dirigentes do clube do Morumbi farão o pagamento nos próximos dias.

Depois de ter pedido para não viajar com o restante do elenco para a Bahia, onde o Flamengo estreia no Brasileirão contra o Vitória, Everton arruma as malas e deve viajar para São Paulo neste fim de semana. O jogador, que renovou com o empresário Carlos Leite no meio desta semana, fará exames médicos no CT da Barra Funda e assinará contrato de três anos com o Tricolor, sendo o 9° reforço do clube para esta temporada.

Aos 29 anos, Everton já atuou em 245 partidas pelo Flamengo, em duas passagens (2009 e de 2014 até os dias atuais) e marcou 37 gols, sendo três neste ano. Em todas as passagens, o camisa 22 é titular absoluto do clube e foi campeão brasileiro em 2009 e do Campeonato Carioca em 2014 e 2017.

عقدت لجنة إنشاء فرع للنادي الأهلي بالعلمين، اجتماعًا مطولًا، اليوم الإثنين، مع لجنة المستثمرين القائمة على المشروع في الوقت الراهن.

وأكد النادي الأهلي عبر موقعه الرسمي، أن الاجتماع جاء لبحث كافة التفاصيل وشروط التعاقد، والحقوق المترتبة للنادي في ضوء ذلك، تمهيدًا للعرض على مجلس إدارة النادي برئاسة الكابتن محمود الخطيب في الاجتماع المقبل.

وأشار الموقع الرسمي إلى أن العامري فاروق رئيس اللجنة والمهندس خالد مرتجي أمين صندوق النادي، ومحمد الغزاوي ومحمد الجارحي عضوا مجلس الإدارة ولمياء مختار، حضروا الاجتماع.

وتطرق الاجتماع إلى الفترة اللازمة للانتهاء من إنشاء المشروع وكذلك عدد مراحل الإنشاء، والإمكانات المتوفرة، والإجراءات الإدارية اللازمة من الجهات المختصة.

ومن المقرر أن تعقد اللجنة اجتماعًا لاحقًا خلال الأيام المقبلة للاتفاق على بقية البنود التي احتاجت إلى توضيح لاستبيان الموقف كاملًا.

Peter Siddle had given Victoria some hope by sending back Phil Hughes and David Warner cheaply but a busy Jaques proved difficult to dislodge, as he had in the first innings. Despite hitting only eight fours in his 125, Jaques managed a strike rate of almost 75, before falling to Glenn Maxwell.Siddle had earlier prolonged Victoria’s innings for 15 overs in the morning, adding 56 with Damien Wright. Siddle remained unbeaten on 45 but Beau Casson grabbed the remaining two wickets to end with 4 for 56 as Victoria conceded a huge lead. NSW finished the day 449 runs ahead, and can push for a victory tomorrow. In any case, their position at the top of the points table will remain unchanged.

Javed Miandad has said he will consider becoming the batting coach of Pakistan, after their tour of the West Indies is completed. Miandad, however, will not travel with the team to the West Indies, but will work with the batsmen before their departure, as he did for Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand last year.”I had detailed meetings with Mr. [Ijaz] Butt and [Shahid] Afridi, but I told them that I could not travel with the team to the West Indies,” Miandad told . “I think the tour of West Indies is not a tough one. After this tour I might consider taking up the [batting] coaching assignment.”It was on the request of Pakistan captain Afridi and chairman of the Pakistan board Butt that Miandad, who has had three stints as Pakistan head coach, agreed to work with the team’s batsmen before the upcoming tour. The tour begins on April 18, and comprises a one-off Twenty20 game, five one-dayers and three Tests. The tour ends on May 24, after which Pakistan will travel to Ireland to play a one-day series.As far as what his role would be as batting coach, if he were to take the job full-time, Miandad said it would be mostly restricted to advising batsmen on pitches and bowlers rather than looking to make drastic changes to their techniques.”I believe that once a batsman is selected for the national team you can’t change his technique,” he said. “You can only teach him the finer points of the game, like how to handle various bowlers on different pitches.”Batting was a concern for Pakistan during their World Cup, during which they failed in two chases, against New Zealand in the group stages and India in the semi-finals. ​Grêmio, Corinthians, Cruzeiro e Flamengo estão com suas vagas nas mãos. A Raposa só não passa se algo de outro planeta acontecer: perder no Mineirão para o Racing e ver a Universidad de Chile vencer o Vasco, em Santiago, por 15 gols de diferença. O ótimo saldo de nove gols faz o Cruzeiro precisar de vitória simples sobre os argentinos para fechar o grupo em primeiro.

Ao Fla, basta vencer o Emelec (ECU), no Rio, na próxima rodada, para carimbar a vaga, ir a nove pontos e jogar por vitória contra o River, na Argentina, para ficar na liderança. O Timão é o líder do Grupo 7, com sete pontos a duas rodadas do fim. Uma vitória contra o Deportivo Lara (VEN), fora, classifica o Timão. Mesma que perca, a vaga estará garantida na rodada final com vitória diante do Millonarios (COL), na Arena Corinthians. Os confrontos diretos da chave, que está embolada, deixam o time nesta situação.

Gringos quase lá
Nacional (URU) e Atlético Tucumán (ARG) estão com classificações bem encaminhadas. O primeiro só cai fora no grupo do Peixe se for goleada por mais de três gols para o Estudiantes (ARG), na Argentina, na rodada final. O Tucumán precisa de um empate contra o líder Libertad, no Paraguai. Líder do Grupo 2 com nove pontos, o Atlético Nacional (COL) só precisa de um empate nos dois jogos que restam, contra Delfín (ECU), fora, e Colo-Colo (CHI), em casa.

Gigantes ameaçados
​Peñarol (URU), no Grupo 3, precisa vencer o The Strongest (BOL), fora, na última rodada e torcer para que o Libertad vença o Tucumán, no Paraguai. Um empate no jogo de seus adversários o elimina da Copa. Boca Juniors (ARG), no Grupo 8, precisa vencer o Alianza Lima (PER), na Argentina, e torcer para que o Palmeiras não perca do Júnior Barranquilla (COL), no Allianz Parque – vitória do time colombiano elimina os argentinos, seis vezes campeões da Libertadores.

If Worcestershire had any doubts about how tough life would be in the top division of the County Championship, they were soon dispelled as Yorkshire completed a nine-wicket rout in just three days at New Road.A game that had previously been well contested suddenly swung sharply in Yorkshire’s direction as Worcestershire somehow contrived to lose all ten second innings wickets in a 32-over spell. Yorkshire, and Adil Rashid in particular, bowled pretty well but, on a blameless pitch and under a cloudless sky, this was a desperately disappointing performance from Worcestershire’s batsmen. Their last six wickets succumbed for just 17 runs in 10 overs.There were two stand-out performances for Yorkshire. Rashid, who claimed ten wickets in a match for the first time, bowled with an encouraging mix of skill and consistency, while Gerard Brophy’s chanceless innings of 177 not out turned the match at a time when it had appeared the hosts had the upper hand.From an England perspective, Rashid’s was the more noteworthy performance. After demonstrating his new-found control in unhelpful conditions in the first innings, he showed his ability in more favourable conditions in the second. He gained substantial turn and claimed five wickets for ten runs in 40 balls at one stage, with the last three coming in just eight deliveries without addition. His googly and his slider proved particularly potent in this game, but it was the absence of four-balls that was equally pleasing. They had played some admirable cricket on the first two days of this game but will have realised now, if they did not know before, that they can’t afford a single poor session in this division. Gareth Andrew hung his bat out at one angled across him, Pardoe, looking all at sea against Rashid, edged a googly to slip, Wright and Mason fell to successive deliveries, beaten by sharply-turning googlies, before Richardson was beaten in the flight. It left Rashid with his second five-wicket haul of the game and Yorkshire requiring just 56 to win.Earlier Brophy steered Yorkshire to a first innings lead of 82. Though Ryan Sidebottom fell in Mason’s first over of the morning, he’d already recorded a career-best score and helped Yorkshire add 149 for their eighth wicket. But Brophy wasn’t finished. He shepherded the tail so well that Moin Ashraf didn’t contribute a single run in a tenth-wicket stand of 43.Brophy’s method? He simply played very straight and waited for the poor ball. It may sound simple but, in a game where the next highest score was 63, his patience and his straight driving proved the difference between the sides. “It was his best knock for Yorkshire and the best I’ve seen him play,” Gale said.Though Yorkshire lost Joe Sayers early in the second innings, Lyth timed the ball sweetly and Joe Root, on championship debut, gave notice of his considerable talent with one pulled six and three crisply-struck fours that suggested a bright future.”There are areas we can improve, but I’m delighted with the way that we stuck to the task and delighted with the result,” Gale concluded. The game against Durham, starting at Leeds on Thursday, may offer a clearer indication of Yorkshire’s credentials as championship contenders.
