After a stirring final day’s play in Mumbai during which 17 wickets fell, 14 of which were bagged by spinners from both sides, India captain MS Dhoni has asked for Test pitches across the country that will take the kind of turn witnessed today at the Wankhede right from day one. Such pitches, he said, could only ensure better quality contests and make the toss less relevant.”What I would like to see [in Tests in India], played out on fifth-day wicket [in Mumbai]; I want the pitches to turn from the very first day,” Dhoni said, expressing surprise at the ample turn and bounce offered on the final day. “It sets off a bit of panic in the opposition’s dressing room and, at the same time, you [India] are under pressure to perform as well. That what makes it interesting.”In contrast to the first four days when 1153 runs were scored for the fall of 22 wickets, the final day’s play witnessed the same ebb and flow all great Test matches became memorable for. A combination of expert spin bowling from Pragyan Ojha and R Ashwin and senseless batting from West Indies’ middle order resulted in a collapse in which eight wickets went down for just 53 runs. A target of 243 from a maximum of 64 overs was never out of reach for India, especially with Virender Sehwag in the ranks.Sehwag, aided by three lives, set the tempo and by the time he departed India were in a comfortable position. However, with the pitch taking ample turn, Marlon Samuels bowled his off breaks in a marathon 25-over spell from the North Stand end, while Devendra Bishoo bowled tight lines from the Pavilion End, hardly giving any free hits. Subsequently, from a position of authority, India were forced to concede control to the visitors, who kept their wits intact all through. Off the final over, India needed three runs, West Indies two wickets. Eventually India got two runs off a fabulous Fidel Edwards over, in which he stuck to a straight line.”Frankly, I really don’t what happened [to the pitch]. It started to turn in the morning,” Dhoni said. “Till yesterday, everything was fine. It was among the flattest of wickets. Something happened in the morning and it started to turn. Most people thought it will be a draw, but it turned into a close game.”On flat pitches, like the ones on offer in Delhi and Kolkata, and for the first four days at the Wankhede, a team that loses the toss cannot do much to run through the opposition, Dhoni said. “I think if you see the first three or four days [in Mumbai], losing the toss doesn’t really help. I don’t know when was the last time we played on a wicket that was really turning square [from day one].”The last time [it came close to an outright turner] was when we played at CCI [Brabourne Stadium, against Sri Lanka in 2009]. Then it was turning, but that was in the morning session. There was bounce also for the spinners, but as the game progressed there was not much even there. I am hoping that we [Indian grounds] stick to our kind of wickets that turn from the first day, which doesn’t make the toss very important.”Darren Sammy, West Indies’ captain, said he was not as surprised by the different nature of the pitch today. “It did bounce and turn more than on all the previous four days, but it was nothing that we shouldn’t have been able to handle,” Sammy said.

West Indies cricket is facing yet another crisis, this time involving the territory of Guyana.The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has seen its authority taken away by the Guyana government and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is refusing to acknowledge the government-appointed interim management committee headed by former Guyana and West Indies captain Clive Lloyd.One feared fallout of this was Guyana’s exclusion from the Caribbean T20 tournament, which starts in Antigua next week, but latest indications are that the country will be represented.Last Wednesday, the secretary of the embattled GCB, Anand Senasie, wrote to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) informing it that the board could not provide a team for the tournament, which starts on January 9, because the Guyanese government, through the ministry of culture, youth and sport, had placed locks on the doors of the GCB’s offices and storage bond since December 24. This means the board is not in a position to prepare and outfit a team, although a squad has already been selected for the tournament.This standoff between the Guyanese government, in the form of sports minister Dr Frank Anthony, the GCB and by extension the WICB has its genesis in the disputed Guyana board elections of July last year. Those elections were boycotted by some of the board’s constituent members. Ramsay Ali, however, became president.Subsequently, the Berbice Cricket Board, through its secretary Angela Haniff, took the GCB to court, claiming that the new administration was not properly established. In ruling on the matter, acting Chief Justice Ian Chang noted that the GCB and its constituents – the Berbice, Demarara and Essequibo cricket boards – were really unincorporated associations and that “the judiciary is powerless to provide remedial action.”The Chief Justice, however, recommended that “there may be immediate need for the minister responsible for sports to impose his executive will in the national interest.”The result of this ruling was the setting up of the interim committee headed by Lloyd, by sports minister Anthony. Lloyd, ironically also an ex-officio member of the West Indies board, has a mandate to draft a new constitution for the GCB that would go to all constituent boards and other stakeholders “for their deliberations and adoption”, to bring together into one board the factions of the Demerara Cricket Board (one source of the GCB’s problems) and to review all the GCB’s financial transactions through an independent auditor.This government intervention via the establishment of the interim committee has met with strong resistance from the West Indies board.Following a meeting in St Lucia last weekend, the WICB’s directors gave full backing to the GCB and chief-executive officer of the WICB, Dr Ernest Hilaire, told the newspaper on Wednesday: “We cannot recognise another body in Guyana; it’s as simple as that. The issue of whether or not the court can dissolve a cricket board must be decided legally. Unless it can be determined that the minister [has the legal authority to] dissolve the GCB, then the WICB cannot recognise any other body.”The WICB has also informed the Guyanese sports minister by letter that the Guyana team can only be provided by the authorised body for the governance of cricket in Guyana – the GCB – and not by any other entity.The WICB also requested the government of Guyana to allow the GCB to access its offices and resources to allow it to be able to complete the process of fielding the Guyana team for the Twenty20.The implications for Guyana’s cricketers and its cricket in general can be grave, therefore, as long as the interim committee – established to work over a six-month period – is kept in place by the government. Already, Guyana, the 2010 Caribbean T20 winners, may miss a chance to play in this year’s edition, and could also be debarred from the regional four-day competition if things remain the same. Guyana’s hosting of international cricket this year has also been cast in to doubt because of the impasse.For the imminent T20 tournament, the WICB had proposed replacing the Guyana team with a West Indies B side, which, the board said, would include players selected in the Guyana squad who have represented West Indies or who are under consideration for future selection. The board said other players in the squad not selected for the B team would still be paid their match fees. Quando ainda comandava o Palmeiras, em fevereiro de 2014, Paulo Nobre recebeu Felipão para uma visita na Academia de Futebol. O técnico na ocasião estava na Seleção Brasileira preparando-se para a disputa da Copa do Mundo, eos dois têm um bom relacionamento.
Depois de conseguir eleger como sucessor Maurício Galiotte, seu então primeiro vice e braço direito, Nobre rompeu com ele por conta do relacionamento com Leila Pereira e José Roberto Lamacchia, casal dono da Crefisa. Hoje, concentra-se na disputa de provas de rali pelo mundo.
Desde o racha, embora não vá ao clube nem às reuniões do Conselho Deliberativo, Nobre é uma força de oposição. Três dos quatro vices de Maurício, inclusive, não têm relação com o atual mandatário por conta da proximidade com o ex-presidente – Genaro Marino é o favorito a concorrer à cadeira presidencial com Galiotte, no fim deste ano, tendo o apoio de Paulo.

وكشف: “تم إرسال العقد إلى الخبير البرتغالي الذي سيتولى رئاسة لجنة الحكام، وسيحصل على راتب أقل من كلاتنبرج وسيكون متفرغًا ومقيمًا في القاهرة، وهذا الملف يتولاه مجلس الإدارة بالكامل”.
وأتم: “تمت مناقشة السير الذاتية للمرشحين لرئاسة لجنة الحكام، والتأكد من عدم وجود أي شيء يسيء له”.
انتهت منافسات دور الـ32 من بطولة الدوري الأوروبي لموسم 2022-2023، وكذلك منافسات الدور نفسه من بطولة دوري المؤتمر الأوروبي، مساء الخميس.
وتأهل مباشرة إلى دور الـ16، متصدرو المجموعات الثمانية في البطولة، والتي أقيمت في النصف الأول من الموسم، بينما يتنافس أصحاب وصافة المجموعات الثمانية مع 8 فرق أصحاب المركز الثالث ببطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا، على 8 مقاعد.

Nimbus Communications, whose contract holding television rights to cricket in India was terminated in December, has claimed damages of close to Rs 600 crores (approx. $121 million) from the BCCI in the arbitration process currently under way, ESPNcricinfo has learned. Nimbus’ claim rests mainly on two contentions: that the Indian team rested top players, contrary to the contract, and that there was no India-Pakistan series as stipulated.Nimbus had secured the rights to Indian cricket for four years in January 2010, its second consecutive four-year deal with the Indian board. The agreement was valued at approximately Rs 2000 crore (then $436 million) for a minimum of 64 international matches and 312 days of domestic cricket until 2014.The deal was terminated after the BCCI claimed Nimbus had defaulted on payments and the matter then went into arbitration.Central to the claim about the playing XI are two of India’s last three home ODI series – against New Zealand in 2010 and against West Indies in 2011. MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh did not take part in the five-game series against New Zealand, having flown out to South Africa early in order to acclimatise themselves to the conditions there for the forthcoming tour. Suresh Raina and Zaheer Khan only played two of the five games before following their team-mates overseas.Neither Dhoni nor Tendulkar took part in the series against West Indies last year, while Virender Sehwag did not play the final game after scoring a double-century in the fourth ODI. The board has adopted a policy of resting players that request a break for certain series, while Tendulkar has opted not to play one-dayers on a regular basis.The India v Pakistan series was part of the ICC’s Future Tours Program and was theoretically scheduled to take place in March-April 2012. However, a bilateral series has been off the cards since the Mumbai terror attacks of 2008 and in any case the calendar at that time is crowded with the Asia Cup and the IPL following the triangular series in Australia. Pakistan last toured India in 2007-08, with the home side winning the Test series 1-0 and the ODI series 3-2. Pakistan players did take part in the inaugural IPL in 2008, but have not been part of the tournament since.The BCCI has already claimed that Nimbus owes it Rs 305 crores (approx. US$61 million) in unpaid dues. In January, the Bombay High Court gave Nimbus four weeks to either deposit the amount with the court as security or provide the court with a bank guarantee for the amount.

“O processo corre em segredo de justiça. A ordem judicial ainda não chegou ao conhecimento do Palmeiras, mas admira a ordem ter chegado ao conhecimento da imprensa antes de chegar ao conhecimento do próprio Scarpa. É preciso que fique claro que o Palmeiras não é parte nesse processo. O Palmeiras nunca se manifestou nem nunca chegou a discutir ou exercer qualquer ato de defesa nesse processo. Portanto, qualquer ordem em relação ao Palmeiras é claramente abusiva, excede completamente os limites processuais e não deve subsistir”, diz a nota enviada pelo clube.
Scarpa e Fluminense brigam na Justiça desde dezembro do ano passado, e esta foi a primeira decisão a considerar o Palmeiras parte do processo. Os R$ 200 milhões se referem à multa rescisória do contrato de Scarpa com o Fluminense e devem ser depositados em juízo em até cinco dias. O clube carioca só receberá este valor se vencer o processo.
O novo episódio do imbróglio não impede a utilização de Gustavo Scarpa pelo Palmeiras. O meia entrou nos minutos finais do 0 a 0 diante do América-MG em Belo Horizonte, nesse domingo, e trabalhou sem qualquer limitação ao lado dos reservas no treinamento da manhã desta segunda-feira, na Academia de Futebol.
O meia chegou a ficar afastado do dia a dia do Palmeiras entre março e junho, quando o Tribunal Regional do Trabalho do Rio de Janeiro derrubou a primeira liminar que o liberava do contrato com o Fluminense. No fim de junho, o Tribunal Superior do Trabalho, em Brasília, concedeu um habeas corpus que liberou o jogador de seu contrato com o Fluminense enquanto o processo corre na Justiça.
O atleta, que cobra a rescisão contratual e diversos valores atrasados, foi derrotado em primeira instância na 70ª Vara do Trabalho do Rio de Janeiro, mas recorreu. Com o habeas corpus, ficou livre para reativar o vínculo com o Palmeiras (até dezembro de 2022) enquanto aguarda a nova decisão.
